In maths we are learning to add and subtract using different strategies, using the number line, algorithm or reversibility. For example:
376 - 199 = 177.
We round the 199 up by 1 to make it 200. We then say 376 - 200 = 176. We then add on the extra 1 to make it 177 because we rounded the 199 to a tidy number of 200.
